I won a giveaway!

I was completely surprised and totally stoked when a YouTuber I follow hosted a giveaway and announced my name as one of the winners!

*happy dance*

I am a new YouTube addict, only recently watching it for more than just Toby Turner silliness or cute kitty videos.  When I realized that it was also filled with crafty goodness, I started following lots of creative people who I felt connected to in some way.

One of the very first YouTube hosts that pulled me in was Josie, over at Life at 50 and Beyond.   She is first and foremost, completely lovely.  She comes across as very sweet and kind, and just listening to her chat is like sitting with an old friend over coffee.  What got me hooked on her videos, is her super cute designs created on a budget!  A lady after my own heart!

Many of her tutorials gather supplies from Dollar Tree, another new obsession of mine, but I digress.  She creates adorable, unique home decor and gifts using supplies that anyone can afford and that look like a million bucks!  It doesn’t hurt that she also seems to be obsessed with my favorite color, teal.  Hee hee!  Match made in heaven, I tell ya!

Anyway, here is a photo of the super generous prize package that she sent me!

How cool is that?!  A beautiful notebook, glittery washi tapes, clothespin clips, pretty paper tags, antique key charms, and a gorgeous Coach wristlet!  I feel like I won the lottery!  🙂

I already have lots of plans for my goodies, and I will forever think of my sweet online friend, Josie, when I use these fun treasures!

Be sure and check out her YouTube channel by clicking HERE.  And don’t forget to click subscribe so you can be notified when she uploads her great tutorials!

Do you have a YouTube channel?  Feel free to share links, I love making new friends and being inspired by awesome, creative people!

Knot Genie Review & Giveaway!

Having a little girl with long hair means inevitably having  tangled hair.  Heck, having any hair of any length is bound to get a few tangles.  As I’m sure the mothers of daughters everywhere know, combing out the knots is pure torture, for brusher and brushee alike.  We use conditioner and tangle spray, sure, but it is still an effort sometimes to get the comb through.  Many a tear have been shed while de-tangling in this house.  Many, many tears.

So what’s a girl to do?  The way I see it, there are three options.  Option one, invest in ear plugs so you don’t have to listen to your daughter cry and tell you how you are evil and pulling out her hair on purpose.  Option two, shave her head.  Sure, it will take some getting used to, but no hair means no tangles, yay!  Option three, and perhaps far less extreme, get yourself a magical Knot Genie.

And I do mean magical.  The awesomeness is in the bristles, which effortless glide through even the nastiest of knots and tangles.  Better yet?  I noticed that when using the Knot Genie on Isabella’s hair, we only had about two or three hairs come out, compared to the giant clumps and broken hairs we would get with the standard brush or comb method.

The shape of the Knot Genie is pretty cool too, it fits very nicely in the palm of your hand for brushing, and fits my hand just as well as it does my seven year old’s.

She can even brush her hair herself!  That sounds silly, she is seven, but as I think most moms will agree, though they may try to brush out the tangles themselves, usually they end up making a big ol’ rat’s nest which means more tears and more hair clumps to be sacrificed.

Notice something missing from that picture?  No tear stained face!  No frown of disappointment!  I dare say, that girl is happy!  And that makes Mama happy.

Knot Genie is awesome.  I mean, really, awesome.  No batteries, no cords, no tears, just awesome.

How would you like to win one of your very own?  Just shoot me an email at livinglavidamommy @ gmail.com, (no spaces) and you are entered to win!  I will announce the winner on Wednesday, September 5, so you have until then to enter to win!  Buena suerte!

Well, what do you know?

Busch Stadium, as seen during the park's openi...

It would appear that our hummingbird friend and little grasshopper buddy did indeed bring good luck.  We were informed Friday morning that we won St Louis Cardinals tickets for this Thursday’s game.  Um, awesome much?

Had a great weekend, nice and cool and strangely productive.  The kids start school later this week, so they are soaking up the very last bits of lazy summer days while they can.

I am working on reviewing a few new products right now, one of which will be including a very generous giveaway.  We’re talking 10 winners, my friends!  Stay tuned, I’ll have more info on that very soon.

Meanwhile, I am definitely feeling the shift as we move into a new school year.  We are adding onto our already crazy schedule this year by signing Noah up for dance class.  He is excited, and as long as he wants to do it, I’m all for it.  The boys are a pretty spiffy little novelty in the dance routines, so I predict an extra awesome recital next year with Isabella and Noah sharing the same stage.  It can only be awesome.  Once I find some tiny, toddler sized black ballet shoes, that is.  That task is proving harder than expected.

It won’t be sad saying goodbye to summer this year.  It was hot and miserable, keeping us indoors far more than we would like.  Hopefully the fall will bring us some nice, cool temperature to enjoy the outdoors and make up for lost time in the fresh air.

Isn’t winning fun?

Blah!

Excuse me from my usual, awesome, entertaining and informative writing today.  I am recovering from a lovely case of food poisoning.  Feeling better today, but quite drained.

We had a nice weekend celebrating Saraphina’s first birthday with friends and family.  And then I was oh so rudely thrown out of commission from a tainted St Louis Bread Co sandwich.

While you are missing me, go enter the giveaway for the No Throw tethers!  They would make an awesome gift if you are out of the pacifier/sippy cup phase with your munchkins.  Enter HERE.

I hope you had an awesome weekend with far less barfing than I did!

No Throw Review & Giveaway!

If you have babies, then you know how much they love to throw things!  Especially their cups and pacifiers!  I can’t count how many times I have watched sippy cups or bottles or even pacifers get thrown from a stroller or shopping cart.  And there have been plenty of times these items have been thrown without me noticing, leaving us without a drink or a binky for the now crabby baby.

How about dinner time?  Do your babies love to throw their cup down as soon as you place it on their tray?  In my house, the kids are constantly helping to find the cups or binkies after they have been flung by a giggling baby who loves to play fetch with the older siblings.  It may be fun for the kids, but Mama doesn’t like to play fetch.  Not to mention think about the cooties that are on the cup or binky after landing on the floor or in the dog’s water dish.  Que asco!

Here is where No Throw comes in to save the day!

Don’t you just love the name?  I mean, how appropriate!  And what an awesome product!  Basically, these are tethers for pacifiers and bottles/cups.  They attach securely, and make it impossible for your little star pitcher to get their cup or pacifier to the ground.  Or the dog bowl.  Brilliant!

No Throw was invented by Karla and Karen, twin sisters who, through traveling to see each other, experienced one too many thrown sippy cups.  Wanting to avoid the embarrassment any more, No Throw was born.

“Oh look! A drink for me to throw!”

“Be a dear and fetch my cup for me, won’t you?”

Amazingly, once she realized she couldn’t get any distance on her pitches, she held the cup for the remainder of her meal!

I especially love that the pacifier tether is not hook and loop!  It has a very sturdy metal clip, and it attaches to the pacifier with a loop.  Believe me when I say I have gone through many a pacifier tether, and none of them have been as well made or sturdy!  Hook and loop can be pulled apart by the baby, and it wears out just from general wear and tear.

No losing of the binky during playtime!

This time of year is especially perfect for No Throw, because it seems like every weekend there are fun things to go out and do, and therefore lots of opportunities to lose cups and pacifiers.

“Hey! I tried to throw my cup across the room, what gives?”

Notice it doesn’t even touch the ground when it’s dropped! No more cooties or 5 second rule!

You know what?  No Throw is good for things besides pacifiers and cups as well.

How about attaching it to your purse or diaper bag with your keys? I’m always hunting for my keys in the deep abyss of my purse or the cavernous diaper bag. This keeps them securely in place and easy to find! Love!

Attach it to toys! Teethers, rattles, anything really! This keeps them secure to the car seat or stroller when your baby feels like throwing things out, which is all the time with my kiddos.

Wondering where you can get your very own No Throw tethers?  Well, besides their website, which you can find HERE, you can also find them at your local Walgreens, Rite Aid, or CVS.com.

How would you like to win a set of No Throw tethers for yourself?   These would also make an amazing gift to a new mommy!  No Throw has very generously offered to send two winners two tethers each, either for pacifiers or bottles, and in a boy or girl pattern.  Interested?

Once you have “Liked” and “followed” them, leave a comment here on this post.  Just say “hi”, share a funny story about things your kids have thrown, or heck, tell us a hilarious joke.  Your comment will count as an entry in the giveaway.  The winners will be drawn and announced next Friday, July 6th.

How easy is that?
